Don’t Spend Your Time Chasing After People On Social Media

Ecclesiastes 3:1

When it comes to our friendships and the company we keep, many of us have experienced people coming in and out of our lives. Maybe we were really close in high school or college and now, things just are not the same. Maybe you used to work together or you were roommates and they moved away or started dating someone and just like that, the friendship you had seemed to shift overnight.

No matter how much we may try to prevent it, sometimes, these things happen. And whether it was our doing to go separate ways or theirs, one thing we cannot do is get hung up on what we used to have and what happened in the past.
Today’s passage reminds us that there is a time for everything. Not everyone is going to be in our lives forever and that is okay! And just because you do not still have what you had in the past, that does not mean that the time you did have was wasted.
The more you can begin to realize this, the more you will be able to understand that there truly is a time for everything. God does not make mistakes when it comes to time!

So make the best use of your time by spending time with the people that God has currently placed in your life. Do not spend all of your time chasing after people on social media or via text messages constantly hoping that you can rekindle what you had all those years ago (even if they are nice people). It is not wrong to keep in touch, but do not neglect the community God currently has you in. Even if it is a small group at church or a core group of family members.

Even as you seek new friendships, do not allow yourself to constantly compare new friends to old ones. You may have had great memories, but know that God can give you great memories today and tomorrow too! Treasure the great times God gave you in the past, but make sure you are living in the present moment and building relationships with people that He has placed in your life right now.
