The National Bank of Kenya is a licensed commercial bank which has been in operation since 1968 in Kenya. It was first formed to aid Kenyans access credit and enable them to control their economy, therefore it was initially fully owned by the government.
Its head office is in National Bank Building – Harambee Avenue in Nairobi, Kenya.
In the 90s, the government reduced its shares to the members of the public such that the Kenyan Government now holds 22.5% shares, the General Public 29.44% and the National Social Security Fund (NSSF) 48.06%.
It offers services such as banking, investment and loans to individuals, companies, organizations and corporates.
National bank of Kenya is one of the banks listed on the Nairobi Stock Exchange.
National bank has internet banking provision for its customers which enable them to access most of the bank’s services without necessarily having to visit the bank itself or the branches.
The bank has many branches and Automated Teller Machine (ATM) across the country so as to take its services closer to its customers.
